Lab 5: Composition

Image
For this part of the task we had to take photos that matched a compositional template. The photo I took represents balance. I personally think it is hard for the eye to decide which part of the picture to look at first - the water tower in the background or the brick wall in the foreground.  I love shooting in this area because of the greenery in it and I think it makes the white wall stand out even more because of the colours.

Lab 5: Composition

This picture representers another part of the compositional trick task - dominance. When walking around the area I was surrounded by plants, trees and grass so when I walked towards this container with graffiti I was instantly drawn to it. If you look to the sides of the containers you can see its surrounded by greenery.

For this part of the task we had to take a photo of a compositional design element. The element I chose was vertical lines. I like how the white sky fades down to the dark wooden panels. I think it's interesting how the panel leads into the distance and you don't know where it ends. I think the picture is a bit dreary and viewing the picture you could tell it was a dark day.

For this part of the task we had to focus on compositional tricks. This particular picture represents rhythm, I like how your attention is drawn to the fence but if you look through the fence you can see see the building faded out in the background.

Creative Lab Exercise 5

Image
For exercise 5 we had to recreate an image from a book we chose. In my book it was pictures all taken from the seaside, the image showed a group people at the seaside covering themselves from the rain. I think this image recreates it quite well.

Creative Lab Exercise 4

Image
For exercise 4 we had to take 10 photos of a scene. I chose this photo because I like how the brightness goes from dark to light the further back it goes, the front wooden panel is quite dark but if you look at the back one you can see that sunlight is hitting it.

Creative Lab Exercise 3

Image
For exercise 3 we had to take a subject and take 4 images of it in each corner of the frame - 4 photos. The subject I chose was the Coca Cola Bottle. I chose this picture because I think its interesting how even though it's what I was taking the picture of it almost blends into the colours behind it, my eyes don't know wether to look for the bottle, the graffiti or the paint that's dripping down the brick wall that its sitting on.

Creative Lab Exercise 2

Image
For the second part of this exercise I had to take 10 photographs of one small object. I like this picture because of the range of colour going from the brick wall in the left of the photo which adds almost a darkness to the photo, the cup in the middle which is focused on - the green adds a brightness to it especially because its centred and then on the right hand side you can make out the graffiti which is on the container.

Creative Lab Exercise 1

For this exercise I took 24 photos while standing in the same spot. I like this picture because I think it is quite different to all the other angles that I took. I like the different ranges of green throughout the trees and grass. I also think that it is quite a peaceful setting.
